AJet Flies to Scandinavia

Istanbul–Stockholm Flights Have Started

AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp:

  • AJet will have the world’s youngest aircraft fleet by 2027.
  • Starting from July, we will begin using domestically produced seats on our aircraft.
  • AJet has earned a place in aviation literature.
  • With the Stockholm route, we aim to bring tourists to the region.
  • We have started implementing artificial intelligence.

Expanding its route network with new destinations, AJet has added Stockholm, the capital of Sweden and a major Scandinavian hub, to its European network. The inaugural flight from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Stockholm Arlanda Airport was held on Monday, June 2, with a ceremonial launch. Daily direct flights between the two countries are expected to contribute to diplomatic relations, tourism, and trade.

A launch ceremony was held at Sabiha Gökçen Airport before the inaugural flight. Following the event, the aircraft completed the 3-hour-40-minute journey and landed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The welcoming ceremony at Arlanda was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Sweden, Yönet Can Tezel, AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp, AJet senior management, and executives from both airports.

Kerem Sarp: We Aim to Bring Tourists to the Region via the Stockholm Route

Speaking at the ceremony, Kerem Sarp stated:

“As AJet, we are delighted to start direct flights from Istanbul to Stockholm following our services from Ankara. We hope this new route will enhance diplomatic ties and increase tourism and trade between the two countries.”

He emphasized that field analysis and feasibility studies revealed strong passenger potential for the Stockholm route:

“Through this route, we aim to bring tourists not only to Türkiye but also to the broader region. Sweden and other Nordic countries have significant populations from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan. This route will be a key corridor for travelers from Europe to these regions, especially to Türkiye.”

Kerem Sarp: We’ll Open 15 New Routes in 7 Countries in 2026

Highlighting that AJet launched three new international routes within three days, he said:

“With our new routes, we now fly to 59 destinations in 34 countries. Including 41 domestic destinations, we operate flights to a total of 100 locations. In 2026, we plan to add 15 new routes across 7 countries, with a primary focus on Europe.”

Kerem Sarp: Our Goal Is to Increase the Number of Tourists Coming to Türkiye

Sarp emphasized that AJet, along with Turkish Airlines, is contributing to tourism diversification beyond sea tourism:

“Türkiye has great tourism potential in history, culture, and gastronomy. We’ve started bringing tourists to cities like Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Konya, and Eskişehir. We aim to carry more tourists in areas like cultural, gastronomy, and health tourism.”

He also noted the promotional value of Turkish TV shows and influencers, especially those brought in from abroad, who generate strong engagement.

AJet Outperforms Eurocontrol in On-Time Departures

Sarp emphasized continued operational improvements and stated that AJet surpasses Eurocontrol regional averages in on-time departure performance.

AJet Has Made Its Mark in Aviation Literature

“There is no precedent in aviation history of an airline launching with 80 aircraft and operating over 400 scheduled flights per day,” Sarp said. “Airlines usually start with 3–5 aircraft and charter flights. We’ve achieved something exceptional, earning AJet a place in aviation literature.”

Kerem Sarp: AJet Will Have the World’s Youngest Fleet by 2027

On the aircraft fleet, he said:

“If our expected deliveries arrive on schedule, AJet will have the world’s youngest fleet by 2027. In 2026, 67% of our fleet will consist of new-generation aircraft aged 1–2 years. Additionally, from July, we will begin installing entirely domestically produced seats—named ‘Minigram’—which are slimmer and more comfortable, thereby enhancing in-flight comfort.”

Kerem Sarp: We Have Started Using Artificial Intelligence

Discussing technological investments, he added:

“We are rapidly improving user experience across our digital platforms, including our web and mobile apps. We’ve optimized a large portion of our operational processes and started incorporating AI, making our workflows more efficient. With renewed aircraft, upgraded seating, and improved tech, AJet offers a more digital and comfortable travel experience.”

Kerem Sarp: We Aim to Touch Hearts

“As the youngest airline in Türkiye, we strive to connect with passengers emotionally,” he said. “Our cabin crew is in direct contact with guests, aiming to create emotional connections. We share special notes with the crew before flights—whether it’s families with children, passengers with health concerns, or those with a fear of flying—so they can offer extra care. A child’s joyful first flight experience, and receiving feedback about it, is incredibly meaningful.”

AJet Will Operate Daily Flights to Stockholm

Direct flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Stockholm Arlanda will run daily throughout the summer season. This frequency offers flexibility for both tourists and business travelers visiting the Swedish capital.
